Dave first came to Bethel in 2007. He has volunteered in various ministries at the church such as Children’s Church, Adult Singles Class and Youth Group Music Ministry. He also worked in various roles at Schaumburg Christian school such as security, athletics and facilities management.

Dave was raised in a Christian home on the big Island of Hawaii. Every summer he had the opportunity to serve in a Christian camp on the island. He attended Bob Jones University where he met his wife, Kathy. They have one daughter who was a long-awaited answer to prayer. He is very excited to work with the youth of Bethel Baptist Church.

Mark Coleman

Mark graduated from Bob Jones University with a B.A. in Sacred Music in 1977 and a M.A. in Ministry in 2013. After serving for 15 years as music pastor in a church in Twin Falls, Idaho, Mark and his wife, Jan, became involved in the Deaf ministry there. In 1995, Mark accepted the call to become the Deaf Ministry Pastor at Bethel. Mark serves on the board of Deaf Baptist Fellowship of America and Silent Word Ministries International. Jan is a certified interpreter working primarily in educational settings. Mark and Jan have three married daughters and 11 grandchildren.

In addition to pastoring the Deaf members at Bethel, Mark also ministers to homebound seniors and conducts Bible studies in local senior facilities.

Brandon Lowery

Assistant Pastor

Brandon was not raised in a Christian home and suffered through much distress before being saved at the age of 30. Soon after, he began attending Bethel Baptist Church and surrendered his life to ministry. During this time, Brandon and Christina, whom he met in the Singles ministry at Bethel, were married, started a family, and led multiple Adult Bible Studies and Sunday School meetings. He has attained a B.A. in Religion from Liberty University, and an M.A. in Counseling Ministry from Wheaton Graduate School. Brandon is currently certified as an ACBC counselor. He joined the pastoral staff of Bethel in 2014.

Brandon is committed to equipping, enabling, and encouraging others to grow in Christ-likeness, motivated by the love of God and having a personal understanding of the blessings of salvation. Brandon’s broken past has given him the gifts of empathy and vision for struggling men and women. Brandon’s practical theology allows him to communicate with people in a manner that exalts Christ in a conversationally and practically dynamic way.

Scott Mayer

Scott completed a B.A. and an M.A. in Church Music at Bob Jones University with proficiencies in piano and choral conducting. He has been teaching private lessons and directing choirs and ensembles at Schaumburg Christian School since 1993 and became Music Pastor in 1999.

Scott is passionate about teaching the next generation to love and serve Christ through music at SCS, and planning and leading corporate worship at Bethel. God has given His body at Bethel an abundance of musical giftedness. Scott’s desire is to provide opportunities for believers to use their gifts to glorify God through music in worship. He and his wife, Kathy, have 4 boys.

Josh Plonk

Josh completed a B.A. in Practical Christian Training at Bob Jones University. He has served as the director of our children’s ministry since 2003.
